- Aston Martin lends support to Glamorgan County Cricket Club and Welsh youth cricket
- Luxury carmaker’s second UK plant being developed in Vale of Glamorgan
12 April 2017, Gaydon: As Phase II of Aston Martin’s redevelopment of the former Ministry of Defence site at St Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan in Wales gets underway, the luxury British carmaker today announced a partnership with Glamorgan County Cricket Club, which also includes support for all the age-grade teams from Cricket Wales.
Aston Martin selected St Athan as the site for its second UK manufacturing plant and will produce its new SUV, the Aston Martin DBX, there from 2019. Recruitment from the local area has already begun and a new workforce is in training to become the highly-skilled technicians that Aston Martin requires to build its luxury, hand-crafted cars.
Dr Andy Palmer, Aston Martin President and CEO said “Aston Martin is making a big commitment to establish a manufacturing plant in St Athan. It is our strong intention to contribute to the future success of Cardiff and Wales as a whole, not just as an employer but also by playing our part in the wider community. This partnership demonstrates our commitment to that and we look forward to cheering Glamorgan on, and seeing the Cricket Wales teams in action throughout the summer.

Aston Martin branding will appear on the collar of the first team shirts and on the front of the shirts worn by the senior women’s and youth teams.
